Puppet-y things with wings (for the Art Log challenge).

Now that the rush is over the hurly burly done, time to take a pencil and sketch out an ideaImage

Slowly ideas are starting to come together for a paper puppet.  Not a shadow puppet as such, rather one that can be animated using stop motion on a back lit box with silhouette backdrop.  The wing’s underside is painted; they will next need to be cut out with a fine scalpel blade and the reverse painted.  I intend the puppet to be usable front and back for filming purposes…and because I am enjoying the painting process so much.

The jointing will be experimental, probably using seed beads that are matched to the colour.  The joint will be using an old doll technique for knees, one that uses buttons, only on a tiny scale.  I will post the wing when it is complete.

Addendum:  feathers cut, one side painted but awaiting jointing and painting on the verso.
